Knight Composites 95 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset
Using DT Swiss' top of the range 180 hub, the Knight Composite 95 Carbon Clincher DT240 Wheelset is the deepest section wheel the American company produce. Designed for triathlons, flat fast road races and time trials. The 95 millimetre deep rim is durable, stiff and responsive.
The innovative EPS construction process uses Toray carbon fibre, the same material used on Boeing’s 777 aeroplanes, and EPS, expanded polysterene. This results in a rim of exceptional quality. This construction process is lightweight, strong and designed to dampen road buzz.
Taking these wheels to their limits is not an issue, as all Knight Composite wheels have passed stringent safety tests.
A wheelset that can be ridden on hillier time trial course where a disc wheel would be too heavy. Addressing the issue of "wind steer", the designers have moved the lift to the rear of the wheel. This repositioning of lift means less watts are required to produce the same speed.
Knight Composites spent endless hours both in the windtunnel and on the road to develop their Trailing Edge Aerodynamic Manipulation process. This eliminates drag and enhances airflow over the rim and tyre. This is turn improves the frame's aerodynamic efficency. This rim design optimises the frame's shape and offers the best air trajectory. Ultimately this makes the 95 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset one of the fastest ultra deep wheelsets on the market.
Fitting a wide range clincher tyres, the 28.25 millimetre rim width adds stability. Sapim have added 16 spokes on the front. These are a lightweight and durable option. On the rear, for added stiffness, 20 spokes have been used.
State of the art DT180 hubs are reliable, fast spinning options. These are low maintainence hubs and feature a Shimano freehub body that accepts both 10 and 11-speed Shimano cassettes.
