Pinarello is a brand steeped in tradition but at the same time unafraid of new challenges. Always the innovator, the last decade or so has seen these artisans from Treviso in Italy right at the very forefront of the development of the modern racing bicycle. One of the first to embrace lightweight alloy tubing, the wishbone seat stay, integrated over-size headsets and now already proving to be a master of carbon fibre manipulation, it is safe to say that Pinarello set the standard that many manufacturers can only aspire to.
The Dogma 60.1 still sits at the top of Pinarello's current line-up for 2011 and incorporates everything they know about modern manufacturing techniques. Constructed using a blend of Japanese carbon fibre master,Torayca's highest modulus carbon fibre, the Dogma also calls on sophisticated moulding techniques based around Pinarello's wrinkle-free system where polystryene formers are used in favour of the more conventional inflated bladders to create the frames internal voids. Pinarello claim that this method improves wall thickness consistency and also allows them to control the precise lay up of each tube more effectvely.
Of course the Dogma also features Pinarello's asymmetric frame design principles, indeed this was the frame that underlines their intention to apply lessons learned with the Dogma to the entire line up over time, something that is now evident throughout most models in their range.
Pin sharp handling combined with a super stiff platform that responds to rider input immediately. The Dogma is the choice of Team Sky and a frame worthy of consideration if you are looking for a top end road race or sportive bike. It is unchanged from the 2010 version with the exception of subtle graphic and colour scheme changes.
