Trek Emonda SL 6 Road Bike 2016
Things are getting very serious for this Trek Emonda SL 6 Road Bike 2016. The entire Emonda range is a fantastic demonstration of Trek's ability to innovate with it being the lightest range of production road bikes. However, for this Emonda SL 6 there are a number of significant upgrades that advance it well beyond the lower, but still fantastic, models in the range.
One thing that should instantly excite you about this bike is the use of Trek's high end 500 series OCLV carbon fibre for the frame and the full carbon fibre fork and steerer. This is the principal means by which Trek has been able to achieve their audacious goal of maximising the ride quality of a supremely light bike.
A great example of ingenious weight saving design is the E2 head tube system which tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1-1/8" upper bearing and is wider from side to side than it is from front to back. Being asymmetric it minimises weight and maximises power transfer keeping the fork stiffer under cornering loads. Similarly, the Trek exclusive BB90 is the widest available on a road bike and makes the frame lighter, stiffer and accelerate better.
The rider tuned seat-pin delivers the lightest and most comfortable daily performance. Using a no-cut design the traditional seatpost clamping forces are eliminated, meaning less material is used at the seat cable junction. This again adds to the frame's featherweight credentials.
Integrated Duo Trap S compatibility allows speed and cadence data to be sent seamlessly via bluetooth or ANT+ technology to your smartphone, bike computer or other compatible device.
The 3S chain keeper keeps gear shifting seamless under heavy loads and rough surfaces. The chances of being stuck at the side of the road with a slipped chain is reduced significantly.
Trek's exquisite H2 fit is a geometry that suits most riders. With a good balance between an all out racing position and a more relaxed one. This makes the bike ideal for racing but also more than capable of racking up long miles on.
Building this bike with Shimano's excellent Ultegra 6800 eleven speed groupset was a master stroke. This gives you luxurious shifting that is so fast and reliable it almost rivals their Dura Ace option, however it means you get phenomenal performance at a price that cannot be ignored. A frame as good as this would not have been complete without a groupset of this quality.
The American company Bontrager have adorned the bike with good quality parts. Their Race Lite Handlebar and Elite stem complete the stunning looks, whilst the Bontrager Paradigm R is a very comfortable but lightweight option. Finished off with Bontrager Race Lite Tubeless Ready wheels and Bontrager R2 Hard-Case Lite tyres for a great all round package. This is a fast, lightweight and exciting bike that you are going to motivated by to push your boundaries.
