Specialized Rockhopper Expert 29” Mountain Bike 2017
As the workhorse in the world of mountain biking for decades, the Specialized Rockhopper has been the go-to mountain bike for everyone from beginners to professionals at one time or another. Its solid, dependable frame and capable components let riders explore the great outdoors and take on as much, or as little, that the countryside had to offer. Now, the Specialized Rockhopper Expert 29” Mountain Bike 2017 has been redesigned, and this is the result.
A lightweight, strong and durable frame is at the heart of the Rockhopper. Constructed with Specialized’s A1 SL Aluminium, which boasts a great compliance to rigidity ratio, the bike can provide the comfort you need on long rides in the countryside, whilst also the efficiency to put down the power and climb when you need to. The SL Aluminium is also corrosion resistant, meaning no matter what weather you ride in, the bike will be protected from the elements.
The entire bike has been focused around the 29-inch wheels. The 29er offers great rolling ability over roots, rocks and bumps when exploring rough terrain, whilst also improving stability and consistent speed for a more enjoyable ride. Specialized have incorporated their Ground Control Sport 29 x 2.1” tyres to compliment the 29er choice, enabling great puncture resistance and ample levels of grip in the corners, climbs and downhill sections.
A Manitou M30 29” fork with 80/100mm of travel controls the shock absorption on the Rockhopper Expert. This fork features Trail 29 geometry, ensuring everything is perfectly suited for one another and allows you to maneuver through adverse terrain in comfort, absorbing big hits with ease.
When riding off road, you never know what may lay ahead and that’s why you need a wide range of gearing to get you up those testing climbs. Specialized have incorporated their SRAM X5 front derailleur and Shimano SLX rear derailleur for this, ensuring you don’t run out of steam when heading up the mountains.
Shimano BR-M365 hydraulic disc brakes control the braking prowess of the Rockhopper Expert and are also highly reliable when heading off-road. A combination Shimano Deore, 10-speed lever allows you to access the full potential of the gearing and braking, with its ergonomic shape that contours to the curve of your fingers.

Built, Checked, Tuned and Tested
All our bikes are fully built, checked, tuned and tested by our Cytech qualified mechanics and then securely packaged, ready for delivery. All you have to do is add the pedals (if included), attach the handlebars to the stem and tighten them following the included detailed instructions or by watching our video and using the provided FREE tools. All bikes collected from our shop, are built, tested and ready to ride. For hassle-free home delivery and bike set-up from a qualified mechanic use our Premier Delivery Service.
Please note, occasionally, manufacturers may change the specification without notice. Bicycles do not come with pedals unless otherwise specified. Bikes ordered for delivery will not arrive with the pedals installed, please refer to the owners manual and pedal installation guides provided for guidance. We do not install accessories to bikes, including mudguards. Bikes ordered for delivery that have tubeless compatible tyres and rims will arrive with inner tubes installed or with tubeless valves installed, this will be brand dependent. Sealant is available to be purchased separately.
