ENVE SES 8.9 Carbon Clincher Front Wheel R45 Hub
The ENVE SES 8.9 Carbon Clincher Front Wheel R45 Hub is the ideal time trial or triathlon front wheel. Featuring an 85-millimetre front clincher rim paired to a Chris King R45 hub, this combination pushes the barriers of high-performance wheels.
The 8.9 is the third incarnation of the Smart ENVE System design. Also included is Vittoria's Open Corsa CX III Clincher Tyre 23mm, which provides ultra-low rolling resistance and lasting grip in both wet and dry conditions.
Simon Smart, a renowned aerodynamics engineer with 15 years experience working with some of Formula One’s leading teams, was brought on board by ENVE in 2010 and since then has transformed the brand.
Smart recognised a traditional aero rim reduces drag but often leads the rider fighting the wheel when steering, especially in crosswinds. Therefore Smart and ENVE developed a rim that offers the perfect balance between aerodynamics and stability. The ENVE Stability Index (ESI) system was born. Stability and comfort is further provided by a 26-millimetre wide profile, seating the tyre better on the rim and improving control.
What really makes ENVE rims stand out from the competition is the manufacturing process. A process where carbon routing fibres are moulded into the spoke holes, resulting in a high tensioned wheel, minimising spoke breakage and pull through the rim.
Weighing in at a more than competitive 820 grams and housing 16 spokes this is both a lively race wheel that is more than up to the task of dealing with variable road surfaces.
Designed specifically for clincher tyres, this provides versatility and makes swapping between tyres and fixing punctures quick and easy.
