Colnago C60 Classic Electronic Frameset (High Geometry)

The Colnago C60 Classic Electronic Disc Frameset (High Geometry) has been fully handmade in Italy and is a disc brake version with a reduced frame weight of 140g compared to the C59 disc. This is the ultimate in high-performance race bikes, but has a number of features that make it comfortable for long days in the saddle.

The frame has been designed to be stronger and more laterally stiff with responsive handling and a reduced weight compared to the C59, and a number of technological advances have made this happen. In the head tube the main tubes have the famous star design of the Master and this continues the full length of the tubes; there is no round cross section where the tubes meet the lugs. This results in increased lateral stiffness of the front triangle and increased comfort as forces are better distributed when riding over rough surfaces. This version also has a higer headtube for a more relaxed position.

The new oversized downtube has been made possible by a new bottom bracket shape and is the largest tube produced by Colnago. Increased efficiency and comfort whilst still reducing weight is the outcome of this new design. The seattube is asymmetric as it enters the bottom bracket lug and this, plus a 31.6mm seat post provides a dynamic road performance and increased lateral stiffness.

The bottom bracket lug has star-shaped tubing inserts so stress is more evenly distributed and wall thickness can be reduced further. The internal cable routing is integrated into the bottom bracket junction which adds strength to this area of the frame.

Increasing comfort on the bike is known to increase a riders efficiency and maximise their performance when they may normally become fatigued. The chainstays and seatstays are designed with this in mind. The chainstays have internal ribs for lateral stiffness and the tubes taper towards the dropouts for a slight upward flexion and vertical compliance to dampen road vibrations. Working together with the chainstays, the seatstays have a conical shape, tapered diameter and reduced wall thickness.

One-piece dropouts are forged from aluminium making them strong and reliable but still weigh less than many carbon fibre products. In the event of a crash, the inbound derailleur hanger is more likely to break than the dropout itself and can be easily replaced.

This frameset is only compatible with electronic shifting systems.
