Castelli developed their Vortex dimpled fabric, which forms the outer leg of the shorts, to help induce turbulence around your legs while you are pedalling. This improves your penetration through the air, providing riders with up to a 10 watt saving at 40km/h over the previous year's model. The Vortex fabric is also highly effective at providing ventilation and moisture wicking properties.

On the inside leg Castelli have opted for their Forza fabric. This fabric has a 38% Lycra content to help support your muscles and encourage blood flow. The Free Bib Strap design is seam-free and lies flat against your skin. This eliminates the chafing that is often derived from seams and the straps uncomfortably digging into your shoulders. The straps Doppio V construction increases support and comfort over long rides.

Cutting no corners, the Free Aero bib Short uses Castelli's top-end Progetto X2 Air seat pad. The pad is constructed in three separate sections that work together to provide lasting support and comfort. On the top is the skin care layer, which acts to alleviate the threat of chafing by providing a soft and conforming contact point between your skin and the pad.
