The Cane Creek eecycleworks Direct Mount Rear Brake Caliper offers SL6 Tarmac owners the chance to take their bike one step closer to Specialized's top of the range S-Works model. This caliper is identical to that found on the Ultralight edition, boasting the same aerodynamic, high performance and lightweight design found on the professional's bikes.
Weighing in at a mere 79 grams, this is certainly a lightweight offering. This weight is achieved through the forged high-grade Aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel construction, merging materials to create the perfect blend of performance and durability. Designed around 18-28mm rims, this brake can easily accommodate wide carbon fibre wheels, ensuring compatibility with other equally high-end components for your dream build.
Featuring tool-free caliper centering, adjustments are made simple, allowing hassle-free mid-ride tweaks for optimum levels of efficiency. The brake pads can also be replaced without the use of any tools, simplifying and speeding up services. This feature is also handy for those frequently switching between alloy and carbon rims, whereby the pads need to be regularly changed to suit.
Whilst durability and ease of maintenance are important factors in this calipers design, ultimately it is a performance focussed product. It is therefore of little surprise the that the design has been honed to offer the highest possible levels of aerodynamics. The caliper has been shaped to reduce air resistance thanks to its smooth finish and sharp lines, while the brake cable has been relocated to further reduce unwanted drag. Unlike traditional calipers where the cable sits to the side, the cable is found in the frames 'wind shadow', providing maximum efficiency in a very aesthetically pleasing package.
It is worth noting that you will require a separate adapter should you wish to fit this caliper on a 49cm, 52cm or 54cm SL6 frame due to the tight clearances.
