Part of the latest iteration of the the Tiagra range, the Shimano BR-4700 Tiagra Brake Calliper, 49mm Drop Front 4700, brings it up to an incredible performance level for such an affordable price. The lightweight aluminium and performance increases allow this calliper to compete with callipers that are far more expensive.
The Super SLR dual pivot design is probably the most important step up. This design allows for the smoothest actuation whilst simultaneously augmenting braking performance. In addition to this, the improved proportions of the arches allows for faster and more powerful braking than previously experienced.
Handily the quick release allows for the wheel to be quickly removed for fast puncture repair or quick pack down times.
