A brand new company to the world of high performance bicycle wheels, Knight Composites have produced a range of wheels and rims that are responsive, reliable and fast. The Knight Composites 35 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset is the all rounder in the American company's range. The 35 millimetre deep rim is the ideal depth for a multitude of terrains and disciplines.
Being high performance does not mean this wheelset is un-comfortable. The EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) construction process uses Toray carbon fibre, the same material used on Boeing’s 777 aeroplanes. The EPS has been used to produce a rim of exceptional quality, which stands up to all the recognised safety standards.
The EPS construction is also lightweight, strong and designed in such a way to dampen road buzz. This makes the 35 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset the perfect choice for long days in the saddle.
The first deep section wheels to hit the market were a handful in the wind, Knight Composites have addressed this with a carefully designed rim shape.
A race ready wheelset, the Trailing Edge Aerodynamic Manipulation process reduces drag and enhances the airflow over the rim and tyre as well as improving the frame's aerodynamic efficiency. This rim design optimises the frame's shape and offers the best air trajectory. This makes this set significantly faster than a standard box section wheelset.
The 25.5 millimetre rim width means you can mount a range of clincher tyres. On the front, 20 spokes are a lightweight and durable option, whereas on the rear, for added stiffness, 24 spokes have been used.
DT Swiss are experts when it comes to hubs and their DT180 is one of their leading designs. With ceramic bearings and lighweight internals, this is one smooth package.
With the complete wheelset weighing just 1373 grams and available with either white or black graphics, the Knight Composites 35 Carbon Clincher DT180 is a truly sensational wheelset for training, road racing, sportives, time trials or triathlons.
