ENVE Ceramic 20/24 Road Hub Set Shimano
With their Ceramic 20/24 Road Hub Set, ENVE challenged themselves to create the fastest rolling hub while maintaining an ultra-light and slim profile. They may just have achieved this goal with a proprietary full carbon shell and CeramicSpeed bearings.
The shell itself is made from a single piece of carbon fibre. This acts to increase lateral, torsional and vertical rigidity as well as strength, while at the same time dramatically reducing the weight of the hubs to just 74 grams for the front and 158 for the rear.
Inside of this carbon shell lies the CeramicSpeed bearings. These highly durable and ultra-smooth bearings dramatically reduce friction within the hub to create one of the smoothest and longest rolling interfaces that cycling has ever seen.
For the rear hub and freewheel, ENVE opted for DT Swiss internals as they strived for the best possible performance. These internals provide quick engagement so you know that all of your power is going down into the road when you start to accelerate.
The freewheel is Shimano/SRAM 11-speed compatible and is easily serviceable. The hub set has a 20 spoke front and 24 spoke rear formulation and the spoke holes are moulded into the hub flanges for greater strength and rigidity.
